Ramallah - Ma'an - The Palestinian Authority will find the building of a museum dedicated to the late Palestinian President Yasser Arafat, the cabinet decided Monday.

The PA will assume the costs of construction and operations of the new museum, which will play home to documents and artifacts from the history of the Palestinian National Movement, including many articles that belonged to Arafat.

The collection will take the form of a retrospective on Arafat’s life, and has a budget of 2 million US dollars for its first phase. Palestinian architect called Ja’far Tuqan is set to design the building.

Also on the agenda of the weekly cabinet meeting was the financial crisis of the Palestinian National Authority (or PA) and issues around some donor countries, including Arab and western states, not yet fulfilling their pledges.

Last week the PA signed an agreement with the United States for 200 million dollars in budgetary assistance, and the week before two separate agreements with the World Bank were signed for 40 and 32.5 million US dollars.

It would be better to invest the money in a Nakba history /documentation centre or museum which reflects live of the PALESTINIAN PEOPLE instead of a biography museum for just one person (Arafat).

Arafat was a great leader for the Palestinian people and he should be honored as such. I do wish, however, that the PA would spend more money on PR and Marketing so that the average American has a clear idea of who the aggressor is (Israel) and who the victim is (Palestinian people).

I agree with Amin, they should build or invest in a Nakba museum, but also an arafat museum its a great idea, arafat was the greastest leader in the world and we should honored him

Wildly out of touch with reality. People are starving in Gaza. Yes Arafat should be commemorated but a 2 million dollar museum at this moment in time? And if you're waiting for the P.A. to figure out public relations, I'm sorry to say this, but you will be dead before that happens.

Not even palestinians care about their fellow palestinians. This museum is just one more great example of the greed raging in palestina and the rest of the arab world.
