Gaza – Ma'an – A Palestinian man was killed and another injured on Thursday when Israel's navy shelled a fishing boat just off the coast of the northern Gaza Strip, medical officials told Ma'an.

However an Israeli military spokesman denied the navy had anything to do with the incident. He said naval forces did not fire on the boat, nor otherwise cause the death of a man onboard.

But earlier Thursday Dr Mu'awiyah Hassanein, the director of emergency and ambulance services at Gaza's Health Ministry, said Israeli shells killed 25-year-old Muhammad Nady Al-Attar when his head was severed from his body.

One other fisherman was injured in the incident, which reportedly occurred while the two were fishing.

Al-Attar was buried later on Thursday after a funeral procession in his home town of Beit Lahiya.

In this case I do not believe the Palestinian version. Did the shell hit the fisherman in the head, explode and injure the other fisherman and not harm the boat? If the boat had been hit by a shell it is likely that the injured fisherman would have drowned. What happened to the boat? Details?

Although other Israeli and international agencies also reported the medics' claims: http://www.google.com/hostednews/afp/article/ALeqM5gS5v_75qBNk3V3Ua2K7XLVTUiW_A

The shell could have landed next to the boat or exploded in air and the shrapnel sliced his head off. A journalist last year was killed by exploding tank shell which blows up in air. Israeli's Navy is sleazy remember the USS Liberty 30 US sailors killed and injured.

Carlos: Where are the photos of the boat? If a shell exploded in the air/water, killed one/injured another, surely there would be photos of the damaged boat. There is 0. I remember the USS Liberty. I also remember the Massacre at Jenin and the Palestinians celebrating on 9/11.
