Paralympic team from Gaza brings home a gold from Japan games

Gaza – Ma’an – Disabled members of the Al-Jazeera Sports Club in Gaza received top medals at the Asia Paralympic Games Championship in javelin throwing Sunday in Japan, their coach happily reported.
Marking a first for Palestine, Mo’men Al-Masry received the gold medal for his javelin throwing, while Walid Judeh received earned a silver medal in the same event.
Head of the Al-Jazeera sports club Ali An-Nazli said the honors the athletes received were a great achievement for the team, doubled because the young men were able to represent Palestine despite the difficulties they face in Gaza.
An-Nazli said he was particularly proud to see the Palestinian flag flown so high during the award ceremony.
Other players from the team received silver and bronze medals in several of the other games at the championship. The sports team congratulated its athletes, and announced there will be a celebration reception upon their return from Japan.
