Hebron - Ma'an - Israeli soldiers blockaded a school near Hebron and fired tear gas at the building on Thursday, according to local teachers and Palestinian Authority security services.

In a statement, police said several students suffered gas inhalation during the incident, throughout which teachers reportedly shuttled students out of the back of the school in Tarrama, near Hebron.

An Israeli military spokeswoman said the army looked into the matter, but found no reports of riot-dispersal means, which would include tear gas, in the area within the past 24 hours.

It was not immediately clear what had sparked the purported incident, and there were no immediate reports of damage or injury other than tear-gas inhalation.

Located southwest of Hebron, the village of Tarrama is near an Israeli military base.
