Jericho – Ma’an – Israeli authorities ordered three Bedouin families in Jericho on Sunday to leave their land within two days before their homes are bulldozed.
The Mukhtar (elder) of the Az-Zayed clan said that “Israeli patrols came to the area and handed over orders in which they ordered Mohamad Hasan Az-Zayed, Ali Hasan Az-Zayed and Hani Ali Az-Zayed to evacuate their homes in order to demolish them.”
The extended Az-Zayed clan live in shacks and tents in the village of An-Nuei’ma, north of the city of Jericho, on the main road to Ramallah.
Mukhtar said the families have faced pressure to leave the area for years. The family’s lawyers have petitioned in Israeli courts repeatedly to reverse the demolition orders against the family homes.
