Gaza – Ma’an – The armed wing of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP) claimed that they shot an Israeli soldier in the northern Gaza Strip town of Beit Hanoun on Monday.

In a statement the Abu Ali Mustafa Brigades said the soldier was on top of a tank in the area when he was shot.

Group also said the shooting was part of their continuous retaliation to Israeli “criminal acts” against the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip, the West Bank, and Jerusalem.

An Israeli military spokesperson said she was unaware of any such shooting.

Earlier fighters affiliated with the Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine (DFLP) said they exchanged fire with Israeli special forces in the same area overnight.

In a statement on Monday morning, the group said the Israeli forces were forced to retreat under fire. Israel’s military denied that there had been an incursion.
