Gaza – Ma’an – Though the Kerem Shalom crossing is scheduled to operate Fridays, Israel has announced a last-minute closure since mid-August.

Gaza border crossings representative for Palestine Raed Fattouh said he was notified that the Kerem Shalom, Nahal Oz and Karni crossings will remain closed Friday.

What now appears to be a policy of reduced crossing openings was preceded Thursday by the announcement that Israeli authorities would gradually shut down the Nahal Oz crossing, used to transport fuel to the Gaza power station and humanitarian organizations.

"The decision... was Israel's, and it's ultimately up to the occupation, whether or not Palestinians object," said Fattouh.
