Gaza – Ma’an - Israeli authorities decided to open the Kerem Shalom crossing on Sunday to allow food into the besieged Gaza Strip, a local Palestinian official said.
Raed Fattouh, a Gaza border crossings representative, said that both the Nahal Oz and Karni crossings with Israel would remain closed.
Fattouh added that the Kerem Shalom crossing would be open for 85-95 trucks carrying commercial merchandise and humanitarian aid.
However, the military was not expected to permit any exports on Sunday.
Israel and Egypt shut down their borders with Gaza in June 2007, severely curtailing shipments of civilian goods into the coastal strip and banning the area's 1.5 million inhabitants from traveling.
Israel's military said last Thursday it was planning to close the Nahal Oz fuel terminal, which is the only border terminal staffed jointly by Israelis and Palestinians, as per previously signed agreements with the PA.
