Gaza – Ma’an – The de facto government in Gaza released a Fatah official, Rafah Ziyad As-Sarafandi, who is also the head of the Refugees’ Popular Committee, on Wednesday after holding him for three months.

The secretary of the committee Nafez Ghneim said in a statement that Sarafandi is sick and requires medical attention.

Ghneim also hailed As-Sarafandi’s release as a positive step for reconciliation between Hamas and Fatah and the restoration of national unity.

The committee also called for the release of all detainees held for political reasons.
