Qalqiliya – Ma’an – Branches of the Fatah movement in Ramallah, Jericho and Qalqiliya called their members to demonstrate and show their support for outgoing President Mahmoud Abbas, who announced his retirement on Thursday.

In Qalqiliya, supporters were asked to bring out their cars for a tour of the streets Thursday night following the announcement, with banners and loudspeakers in an attempt to change the mind of the Fatah leader and get him to run for reelection in January.

In Ramallah, supporters gathered near the city center, waving party flags and banners.

In Jericho participants toured the streets holding flags, while other were stationed at the city center holding photos of Abbas.
