Bethlehem - Ma'an/Agencies - A second Palestinian died from wounds sustained from an Israeli airstrike on the Gaza Strip on Friday morning, the Hebrew-language daily Yedioth Ahronoth was reporting late the same day.
Ma'an could not confirm that report, and an Israeli military spokeswoman reiterated that the army was aware of only one Palestinian who died in the raid on northern Gaza.
Palestinian sources had been quoted in Israeli media as saying four men were injured, two of seriously. The second death reported on Friday evening was thought to be among those originally hurt.
The airstrike hit northern Gaza at about 6am, army sources said, adding that it was aimed at a group of Palestinians in the Jabaliya region of northern Gaza that was preparing to launch projectiles on southern Israel.
Earlier on Friday, an army spokeswoman said the slain Palestinian was a member of a group called "Jaljalat" which she described as a Salafist group in Gaza with "ties to Al-Qaeda."
Israeli reports said five mortar shells were launched from the Strip four hours before the airstrike. According to those reports, there were no injuries or damages as a result of the strikes. On Thursday night, the Israeli military reported an attempted projectile launch from northern Gaza, but noted the projectiles did not land in Israeli areas.
