Gaza – Ma’an – Two new items will be added to Israel's list of goods permitted for import into the Gaza Strip, including glass for household windowpanes and domestic water filters, officials said Wednesday.

Starting Tuesday, undersecretary of the ministry of the economy Nasser As-Sarraj said, 100 truckloads of the goods will be permitted to enter the Strip, as water quality continues to deteriorate and cold winter weather chills homes windowless since Israel's war on Gaza.

The only source of domestic window glass in Gaza is via the increasingly restricted tunnel trade, and reached prices up to 150 US dollars a meter.

At the same time Israel continues to allow only 36 types of foodstuffs into the Gaza Strip, a report from the Palestine Trade Center announced. The 36 items plus animal feed accounted for at least 67% of all goods imported into Gaza, with the rest were destined for NGOs, fuel for the Gaza power plant and minimal commercial goods, the report said.

Working capacity of the remaining 10% of pre-siege industrial facilities is between 10% and 50%, the report noted, while 70% of establishments in the construction sector are no longer operating with 96% of workers laid of.
