BETHLEHEM (Ma'an) -- A world-renowned architect and a leading conductor have joined the growing list of American and British artists in support of a boycott launched by Israeli actors against performing in an illegal West Bank settlement, a statement issued Tuesday read.

Architect Frank Gehry, known for iconic buildings like the Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao and the Walt Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles signed the petition launched by Jewish Voice for Peace in response to the actors' boycott of the Ariel settlement.

Daniel Barenboim is a legendary pianist and conductor who, along with the late Palestinian intellectual Edward Said, created the West-Eastern Divan Orchestra, which brings together young Jewish Israeli and Arab musicians, Jewish Voice for Peace said.

"Both Gehry and Barenboim, who are Jewish, signed a US/UK artist's statement in support of leading Israeli actors and writers who refused to normalize their own government's illegal settlements and who risked their livelihoods for their stance," the statement read.

Among the signatories include Sex and the City star Cynthia Nixon, Pulitzer Prize winning playwright Tony Kushner and Harry Potter's Miriam Margolyes.

Who needs them anyways, I can watch free performaces on TV, without having to pay exorbitant prices to see them

Cynthia Nixon played in a now defunct series, she wasn't the star in the first place, Sarah Jessica Parker was

Nixon portrayed a sexually frustrated female, it seem her frustration carried over into real life

Frank Gehry, although I'm not a fan of your designs, you have done well supporting the 2-state solution and lending your support to the anti-settlements movement. Well done, please ask other renowned Jewish architects such as Liebeskind to boycott the illegal settlements.

GREAT & COURAGEOUSLY!!

If all the UN nations don't force Israeli zionazi politics then let the grasroots and the united people force their nations to end the politics of the extremist jewish aparthaid state of Israel.

All countries are supposed to comply with UN resolutions. Israel has and still repeatedly defie UN resolutions. Shouldn't everyone support the boycott of all Israeli products until it complies!!

John Wayne was also called a "Great American Here", he played the part,
never was in the miltary

Just like these actors, they're play acting, some hoping for somehopin to attract attention to their faded careers

What happened in the past to the Jewish people is terrible. But you would expect they should know how it is to be kicked out of your house and deprived of all your rights. Beiing indepent , i have no religion, It is strange to read that many Israeli people living outside Israel don't understand the action from the actors. They just want to happen what is right , and this means allow the Palestians to live a good live like most Israeli do , this can be done TOGETHER .

What makes me wonder when read thes comments; people sign with their name and then ISRAEL / USA When they are so proud of their country and what is happening there why don't they live there ? Scared to be a victim from violence from Palestinian people that where kicked out of their houses and humiliated ? You know that not respecting human rights since 1948 is VERY wrong ! Maybe one day you will see the light , i hope it is not to late for you !

Victor de Leeuw, The northern Dutch wouldn't show their face in Breda at festival time, and you expect the Israeli and Palestinian to live lovy dovy together. There are 67 Moslem countries in the UN. Do you really think that Israel is getting a fair treatment? You really believe that atrocities in Uganda and Darfur are comparable to the violations in Israel? Please remove the Howmany resolutions covered human right violation in Darfur, Southern Sudan, Iran, Egypt's Sinai, Syria, Turkey etc.

It really doesn't matter if the attrocities committed in Israel are worse or less bad than that committed in Darfur. What matters is that both are wrong. What matters is foriegn countries are footing the bill for what Israel is doing. What Israel is doing is worse in that it is using world wide resources to subjugate an innocent people the Palestinians. I am taxed by US government everyday to send money to Israeli murdering machine. I am not taxed to send money to the Darfur murdering machine.
