GAZA CITY (Ma'an) -- Commercial crossings into Gaza were closed on Friday, and will remain closed Saturday for the Jewish Sabbath, crossings officials said.

The closure, shortening the scheduled crossings operations week by one fifth, came as UN officials reported lower than average goods imports via the open terminals during the proceeding week.

Between 7-20 November, the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs reported, a weekly average of 780 truckloads of goods entered Gaza, a number reports said was "well below the weekly average entering since the Israeli announcement to ease the blockade on 20 June 2010."

The report cited crossings closures during Eid Al-Adha for the decline.
