JERICHO (Ma'an) -- Israeli forces detained Palestinian Legislative Council member Ali Romanin from his home in Al-Ouja village north of Jericho on Tuesday morning, officials confirmed.

The legislator, elected with Hamas' Change and Reform Bloc, was released in October 2010 after more than four years in an Israeli prison.

An Israeli military spokeswoman said she could confirm one detention in Jericho overnight, An army statement said all those detained Tuesday were "wanted" and taken for questioning.

Jericho mayor Majed Al-Fityani condemned the detention, which comes as Hamas and Fatah officials gather in Cairo to sign a document reconciling the West Bank and Gaza governments.

Israel has said that peace talks will be impossible when unity is achieved.

Peace TALKS ARE STILL POSSIBLE, now that unity has been achieved,
but there is no point in talking, if the new unity government:
- refuses to accept past agreements,
- refuses to renounce terror, and
- refuses to recogize Israel,
since such refusals only lead only to a dead-end !!!!

Also, since these conditions were the sole basis, for allowing the
PLO leadership's return to the West Bank, the unity government's
refusal now, should lead to their renewed deportation and exile !!!
