NABLUS (Ma'an) -- Israel's army arrested three international peace activists and a Palestinian protester Saturday at a demonstration near Nablus in the occupied West Bank, officials said.
Three internationals and one Palestinian were seized amid clashes when soldiers dispersed a weekly rally in the village of Iraq Burin, said Yousef Qadan, a member of the village council.
Soldiers installed checkpoints early in the morning to prevent residents from reaching the rally. They fired tear gas when residents reached the eastern side of the village and arrested Ibrahim Abed Al-Qader, Qadan added.
An Israeli army spokeswoman said 80 rioters participated in a violent and illegal riot in the village. The army used riot-dispersal means when they reached an adjacent settlement, she said.
