HEBRON (Ma’an) -- Palestinian firefighters put out a blaze on an Israeli bus traveling south of Hebron on Saturday morning, civil defense teams said.

The civil defense said fire fighters rushed to the burning bus from nearby Dura and Dhahiriyya stations, and evacuated the Israeli passengers before extinguishing the fire.

The bus, passing by al-Fawwar camp, set alight when oil leaked from the lubrication system and exploded due to the engine temperature, a report by the civil defense department said.

Good work indeed, and we need more such cooperation.

(Maybe they just felt guilty for all the buses that have been blown up?)

to #5 - I am sure if this became consistent with other positive activities, it will be reported in western media. In any case, may cases like this increase, and well done on the Palestinian side.

1-Biased Western Media will never be fair with Palestinians @8. 2-No mixing between right of resistance under occupation and being humane @4. 3-Palestinians are helpful by nature and this is not the first time. In early seventies a copter for certain reason fell near the Comodre hotel in Wadi el jaws on the way to mount of olives. Passers by came to rescue wounded soldiers carrying them in their cars to Maqased and Augusta Victoria. But the army stopped the rescue and took wounded to Hadasa.

To Daniel #8 'to #5 - I am sure if this became consistent with other positive activities, it will be reported in western media.' Possibly the western media. Certainly not the media in the US.

This is nothing unusual. Can any of you remember firefighters from West Bank spending five days helping to put out the wildfire in the Carmel mountains, Israel, last summer in which 41 people died. Then subsequently refusing permission for the Jenin fire chief to cross the wall to attend the appreciation ceremony? Hypocrisy?

It doesn't matter who it is, if there's a bus burning and you can save people, you save people.

To all who are asking why it isn't reported in the media. It isn't reported in the media because it is not a big story. Hebron is an Arab area and then nearest fire department was an Arab one. If there was a bus carrying all Palestinians (or a car, etc.) within the green line and the emergency services are called, the Israeli fire department will come. It does not depend on who is in trouble, it depends on which service is closest. Also, egged is an Israeli bus, but it serves everybody.

We thank the Palestinians VERY much for helping us and if the reverse had happened we would have helped THEM, too (as we have time and time again in many areas of humanitarian concern despite the hardships they DO suffer from our barriers imposed on them. So don't anyone then tell me, "So what ??? ... You damn Jews/Israelites SHOULD be helping us and a hell of a lot more because you OCCUPY US and prevent us from helping ourselves !!!"). Doesn't matter. My point is we DO care and show it.
