UNITED NATIONS (Ma'an) -- The UN humanitarian chief has told the Security Council that Israel's settlement building in the West Bank and blockade of Gaza is harming Palestinian economic development.

Israel's dismantling of the Karni crossing into Gaza will further harm business in the coastal enclave, Valerie Amos said, adding the closure "will have the impact of de-developing Gaza rather than re-developing Gaza."

Amos, the Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs, also briefed the Security Council on Israel's zoning and planning regulations in Area C, the 62 percent of the West Bank under full Israeli control in the Wednesday meeting, the UN news service said.

She expressed concern that the growing settlement population in the West Bank was adversely affecting development and access to basic services for Palestinians.

I wonder why the UN never seems to mentions that Egypt still forbids any import/export at all across the Rafah border. It is like the UN thinks everyone is just too stupid to be able to simply read a map and see Gaza has a border with Egypt too, but the difference is that Egypt is completely blockade to commercial goods movement to/from Gaza with even worse restrictions than the Gaza border with Israel.

1 - Egypt does not allow normal commerce across its border with Gaza because Gaza is entity run by terrorist organization Hamas.
2 - palestinians will be able to talk about their human right and world would listen only after they learn to respect everybody else human rights.

Someone should explaion to this ignorant woman that the Karni crossing has been closed for a year. Dimantling the structure will have absolutely no effect on Gaza since it has't been used in year.

Those actually sleeping can be woken up but those pretend to be sleeping cannot be woken up. UN is one such sleeping giant as far as Palestine is concerned, Madam I wish you luck.
