JERUSALEM (Ma'an) -- A Palestinian teenager was struck and injured by an Israeli driver near an East Jerusalem checkpoint on Saturday morning, witnesses told Ma'an.

Suleiman Abu Mahamid, 18, was waiting to catch a bus near al-Zayyem checkpoint between the West Bank and Jerusalem when a private car hit him and fled the scene.

Onlookers said the assailant was an Israeli settler using a road into the West Bank that is off limits to Palestinians. Witnesses from nearby East Jerusalem neighborhood Isawiya took the car number and photos of the incident, they said.

Abu Mahamid was taken to the Medical Compound in Ramallah to treat his bruising.

'Witnesses from nearby East Jerusalem neighborhood Isawiya took the car number and photos of the incident, they said.' The driver doesn't need to worry. He's one of the masters of the land.

That's right. 90% of investigations of reported settler attacks are closed without indictments, according to the Israeli human rights organisation Yesh Din. But only a fraction of settler attacks are reported, most go unlisted. Plus, those indicted get very small penalties and fines compared to Palestinian prisoners. It's a racist project going on to ethnically cleanse the region: http://www.yesh-din.org/postview.asp?catid=150
