RAMALLAH (Ma'an) -- The Prisoners Society said Saturday that hunger-striking detainee Muhammad Halas was moved to an Israeli hospital after 12 days without food.

Halas, who is detained in southern Israel's Ashkelon jail, has declining health conditions after 12 days on hunger strike, the prisoners group said.

Over 1,000 Palestinian prisoners have been on hunger strike for more than 10 days in protest of Israel's detention policies including restrictions of family visits and solitary confinement.
