GAZA CITY (Ma'an) -- Two teenagers were killed in an Israeli operation in the central Gaza Strip overnight Monday, medics told Ma'an.

Israel's army said warplanes "targeted a terrorist squad identified handling an explosive device near the security fence," adding that a hit was identified.

Locals told Ma'an that Israeli tanks entered Gaza south of al-Maghazi refugee camp and fired on Palestinians. Red Crescent teams evacuated the bodies of two teenagers on Tuesday morning, after a two-hour search operation.

Gaza Health Ministry spokesman Ashraf al-Qidra identified the victims as Muhammad Bassam Abu Mueliq and Yousif Talbani, both aged 16. Al-Qidra said that their bodies were riddled with bullets.

Meanwhile, Hamas' military wing claimed responsibility for firing four rockets at an Israeli military base in Zikim, north of Gaza. An Israeli military spokesman said three rockets hit the Hof Ashkelon regional council, without causing damage or injuries.

A Hamas statement said the fire was in response to Israeli airstrikes on the Gaza Strip in Monday which killed two Islamic Jihad militants and two others affiliated to Hamas' Al-Qassam Brigades.

The death of two teenagers overnight Monday brought the death toll on the Gaza borders to six in 24 hours.

Israel bombed a street east of Beit Hanoun in northern Gaza on Monday evening, saying it had targeted a terrorist squad attempting to fire a rocket from the northern Gaza Strip. The Al-Qassam Brigades identified the casualties as Jihad Abu Shabab and Abdullah Zaanin.

Earlier on Monday, Israeli military forces shelled the same area, killing two men riding a motorcycle in a field, and injuring four others.

Islamic Jihad's military wing said the two men were en route to take part in a militant operation after Israeli troops entered the Gaza Strip.

Hamas has not fired rockets for months and has tried to prevent other groups in Gaza from doing the same. But, nevertheless, Israel decided to boom Gaza yesterday in retaliation for the attack it received from Egypt even though not knowing if any Palestinian was involved (this point has been admitted by the IDF). Israel is frustrated because cannot bomb Egypt so Gazans pay and that is what Hamas is not willing to accept.

Israel exists, where once there were only Muslims
so Hamas Muslim militants fire rockets at civilians,
so Israel sends F-16s to fire rockets at militants,
so Hamas militants fire more rockets at civilians,
so Israel's tanks fire shells at militants, etc., etc. !!!

And, THIS CYCLE WILL CONTINUE FOREVER,
until Hamas militants realize that it is Time for Peace !!!

If Iran paid neo-Nazi French citizens to murder French Jews, would you not blame the Iranians for the murders ??
And EVEN IF the "Egyptian" musliim militants didn't actually come from Gaza (which is unlikely), these militants are allies, and a "proxy" attack on Israel from one is essentially the same as an attack from the other (Gaza), much like when Hezbollah is provided weapons by Iran, and then attacks Israel with them !!

Sadly two youths were murdered - riddled with bullets. The horrors of the Israeli regime cannot be justified in any way. The occupation and all its brutality must end to achieve justice for Palestine. It is the occupation that stands in the way of any normalization for the peoples of Gaza. Read - Gaza in Crisis by Noam Chomsky and Ilan Pappe to get the history and what the Gazan's have endured since their expulsion from their lands in Palestine, occupation, the military attacks and the blockades.

I often read and tweet Maan's article because I understand you are an independent and quality media. So I'd like to request one thing. In case like this article, I think you had better mention 'two men were en route to take part in a militant operation' on not bottom of the article but right below the title or 1st paragraph or subtitle. Because many people don't tend to read full article. Thanks

The "two youths were NOT murdered & NOT riddled with bullets" !!
Instead, they were killed while attempting to commit war crimes !!
If the situation was reversed, you'd support Hamas killing such "youths" firing rockets at Gaza !!

I've often wrote something similar, but requested it more overtly,
like instead of adding something below the title, to change the title:
- from "Israel fires on Gaza Strip, 2 teens killed",
- to "Israel fires on Gaza Strip, 2 MILITANT teens killed".

My heart goes out to the parents and families of these two young boys. There is no justification for these random killings. These are war crimes. Gazans are displaced from their own land and even if they were defending themselves against the Israeli Attack Forces, the Geneva Convention clearly states that an occupied people can defend themselves against the military aggression of the occupier. Nobody believes the zionist regime's paid for propaganda anymore.
