AMMAN, Jordan (Ma'an) -- Jordan's King Abdullah met Thursday with Hamas chief Khalid Mashaal and a delegation of party leaders in the capital city Amman, Jordanian media reported.
Jordan's Petra news service said Mashaal and his delegation discussed developments in the region and issues of common interest, and Abdullah reiterated the kingdom's support for Palestine.
"Jordan will continue its support to the Palestinians to ease their suffering through providing them with every possible assistance in the West Bank and the Gaza Strip," the king was quoted as saying.
He said Jordan was doing its utmost to achieve a just and comprehensive solution for the Palestinians, which he called the core of the conflict in the region, according to Petra.
Mashaal expressed appreciation for Jordan's efforts and reiterated his rejection of substituting Jordan for a Palestinian homeland in Palestine, the report said.
