RAMALLAH (Ma’an) -- A retired Palestinian security officer died in suspicious circumstances on Sunday while being held in security custody, his wife told Ma'an.

Osama Akel Hassan Mansour, 49, was detained by security forces on June 19 as part of an investigation against corruption, a security statement said.

He was under investigation at the time of his death and was being held in a Ramallah detention center.

A security source told AFP that Mansour fell out of a window and died, adding that they did not know whether he fell or was pushed.

Mansour's wife told Ma'an that she believes her husband did not die naturally or commit suicide but was killed.

She had visited him on Friday and said he was in good spirits, joking and making people around him laugh.

She called on authorities to immediately undertake an autopsy to determine the cause of death.

He was 49 and retired as a security officer? Is that some insight into what is happening to the Palestinian economy? Greece....

Pathetic !Wonder if the Palestinian Police ever heard of human rights. I hear they're trained in Egypt and Jordan, well no wonder! I know that EU Police trains them as well !

Re Arnold #3 and Brian Cohen #4. One always notices the profound humanity of Israel lovers. It even shows up in the little things.

hard to imagine that in a well developed democtatorship like PA where officials are 'elected' at least with 95% majority such accusations could fly

Colin Wright - we Israelis have been pointing out for years that people like you blindly support the "Palestinians" while refusing to address the lack of freedoms and rights under Palestinian rule. I have pointed out many times that the Palestinian security system is corrupt and needs cleaning, that the Palestinian "justice system" is not, and that human rights groups turn a blind eye to the fact that the PA is just another Arab dictatorship. Sorry if my comment offended you.
