Attili: Israeli settlers draining Palestinian water supply

RAMALLAH (Ma'an) -- Israel allocates 70 times more water to each settler than to the average Palestinian in the West Bank, the head of the Palestinian Water Authority said Sunday.

At a press conference in Ramallah, Shaddad Attili said Palestinians received 105 million cubic meters of water, less than the amount allocated in the 1995 Oslo Accords and around a quarter of the 400 million cubic meters needed according to international standards.

Israel controls most of the water resources in the West Bank and refuses to increase the amount of water it allocates to Palestinians, Attili said, forcing Palestinians to buy water from Israel.

Water is a final status issue in negotiations with Israel and postponing the issue to final talks has created a water crisis in Gaza and the West Bank, the official said.

The Palestinian Water Authority has had to buy water and is billions of shekels in debt, Attili said. The Palestinian Authority, in the midst of its own fiscal crisis, has not helped with the debt, he added.

Meanwhile in Gaza, 95 percent of the water is not fit for human consumption, and sea water -- contaminated with sewage -- is leaking into the over-extracted coastal basin, threatening long-term problems of kidney disease. Within two years there may be no drinking water left in Gaza, Attili said.

Shirley dear !! .....the citizens in Gaza have been forced to collect rainwater and use home-made desalination plants for years. And do you think the Israeli administration would permit all of the items required for a commercial desalination plant to be imported into GAZA ????? Think again sweetheart ! In any event, if you had any brains, you would know that desalinated water does not contain the necessary natural elements to properly sustain healthy living.. Israeli policy = starve water

Palestinian money crisis ... food crisis ... electricity crisis ... fuel crisis ... political/election crisis ... international/diaspora crisis ... negotiation crisis ... water crisis ... and on ... and on ... and on ... People, we're going to continue to control most of the W. Bank water resources. Our W. Bank "settler" population is increasing, our W. Bank "settlements" are increasing (and the terms "settlers" and "settlements"--despite "International Law"--which we don't care about (cont.)

--are outdated; I'm not even going to use them anymore. We are all Israelites no matter WHERE in the hell we now live in Greater Israel. Remember that.) It IS sickening for the (W. Bank) Palestinians to be in debt over water. They shouldn't even have to pay for water in the first place. Water is a RIGHT a people should have, not a privilege. Point is: That right--since 45 damn years ago in the W. Bank-- belongs to US. Palestinians having problems ??? ... Jordan/Palestine WELCOMES THEM.

Correction:
The Israeli administration would continue preventing all of the items required to build more military rockets, bunkers, and tunnels, which are unfortunatelt similar top those needed for a commercial desalination plant !!

However,
The Israeli administration would be happy for Gaza to be come independant, such that Israel would be free to discontinue providing humanitarian aid in the form of food, energy, and water !!

Hamas policy = Terrorize Civilians

if the leadership did not drain the bank accounts there would be enough to pay for water consumption and then some

I had also heard that another reason for taking Iraq, ensured Israel total control of the water supply.

Re Colin Wright #10 'if the leadership did not drain the bank accounts there would be enough to pay for water consumption and then some' I should point out this isn't my post. Why Israel supporters are so attracted to dishonesty is a good question, though, and worthy of discussion.

Re Colin Wright #12 'Re and then some' let it be clear this is not my hand writing. As for the real good question Billions of $ were given to the PA and more then 50% is gone.

@ 12), 13) Colin Wright/USA, No one sure as hell voted nor appointed me to represent the Israel supporters around here and as much as you and I vehemently disagree, I will nonetheless offer you a sincere apology for an Israel "supporter" posing and falsely posting in your name. It doesn't matter if the poser agrees with you or not. If this problem persists, I would strongly advocate MNA starting a registration and sign-in feature to prevent name theft.

@ the real Colin Wright..I too have had my online ID stolen by a zionist internet shill and much much worse (too complicated to explain here). Everything...and I mean everything about this zionist PR campaign is dishonest and reflects the lack of ethics, principles and character inherent in the arrogant, self serving and hypocritical zionist ideology and agenda.

@10 ) Colin Wright / USA: You are a dimwit? Why should they pay for water from their own aquifer, in which Israel prevents them from drilling wells?
