Palestinians protest Olmert speech in Germany

Ehud Olmert was Israel's premier during a deadly assault on Gaza.
BETHLEHEM (Ma’an) – Palestinian and German organizations on Friday protested as former Israeli premier Ehud Olmert spoke at a campus symposium in Iserlohn, Germany.

The protestors waved Palestinian flags and photos of Palestinians killed during the 2008 Israeli military offensive on the Gaza Strip, which claimed hundreds of lives in the coastal enclave.

Olmert was speaking at the BiTS, Business and Information Technology School, Campus Symposium, which is held annually.

Member of the union of Palestinian community in Germany Ali al-Hila said in a statement that the demonstrations came to remind of the “cruelties” Olmert committed against the Palestinians during his tenure as prime minister of Israel.

For his part, Nabil Abu Steina, another member of the union of Palestinian community said inviting Olmert to Germany wouldn’t help the Middle East peace process. “The natural place for war criminals is the International Criminal Court, and not this academic institution.”

Nabil Abu Steina says the natural place for war criminals in the ICC. Too bad Arafat died before being summoned there.

So now muslims burn the German embassy in Sudan & protest against Olmert. would be rather funny, if it wasnt so ridiculously stupid.

To Arnold: I agree with you. Arafat should have been sommoned there as a witness and a victim of israeli war crimes.

Though it may be true that "inviting Olmert to Germany may NOT help the Middle East peace process", it does NOT harm it either, and what is true is that pressuring the PA into both resuming peace talks, and then making real compromises will help the Middle East peace process" !! .

Keep the protests and screaming up, in Germany, in Canada, in Australia - it is the best thing for Israel. Let them see what you are, please more.

Arnold - have you read anything about the foundation of the Israeli state and the violence with which that took place? And who were the leaders or members of the terrorist gangs? Starting with David Bern Gurion, go on to eg. Yitshak Shamir, Menachem Begin, Ariel Sharon, Golda Meir, Yitshak Rabin. And what did these war criminals get out of that? Prime Ministership of Israel. There were others who did not make it to the top eg Moshe Dayan but still got, along with those others status as heroes
