GAZA CITY (Ma'an) -- Mahmoud Abbas has no intention to resign and will remain president until the next elections, senior Fatah official Jamal Muhassen said Thursday.

Abbas was elected in democratic elections and will leave his post in a democratic way, Muhassan told Ma'an.

On Wednesday, the Saudi newspaper al-Watan reported that Abbas had told faction leaders to find a new president in 10 days at a meeting in Ramallah.

"You have 10 days until I come back from the United States, and you must look for a new president," Abbas said, according to an official who was at the meeting.

Abbas has threatened to resign several times before. His democratic mandate expired in 2009 but has remained president in the absence of elections.

Abbas won't quit, since there's NO profit in it for him personally, and
Abbas won't help his people, by negotiating for statehood either !!

Please, quit. Please, read people's mind and quit. You have got enough - yours and your sons numerous bank accounts in Switzerland and Dubai are full of money, you and your sons have multiple villas and houses around Middle East, you damaged peace process enough, you ruined PA - it is time to quit. Long time overdue. Go somewhere and re-read your PhD dissertation about holocaust denying. May be right some memoirs – Eruqat, Ashrawi and Lieberman will read it.

LOL!He can't 'quit'!He has to be fired by his boss,Israel.
The PA is an Israeli "tool",albeit redundant since "purchase"& only a proxy of Israel,in W/Bank. It's never had real 'authority'!
And,the Arab League-where petro-dollar/US-base states&tribal"kingdoms"like Wahhabi Saudi, follow UScorporate policy.Or,Amman,Cairo,Baghdad, are as dependant on US taxes&weapons,as ISRAELI is?Don't expect them to champion Palestinian freedom, even tho' the Right of Return would unburden everyone's economies!
