RAMALLAH (Ma’an) – Fatah and the Palestinian leadership reject Israeli Defense Minister Ehud Barak’s proposal for a unilateral withdrawal from the West Bank, party leader Nabil Shaath said Tuesday.

In a statement, Shaath said Barak's plan was a non-started as Palestinians hold the Israeli government completely responsible for discrediting the peace process.

Responding to Barak’s remarks about a unilateral disengagement from the West Bank, Shaath said that Barak masterminded Israeli crimes against the Palestinian people, and it was Barak who foiled talks between his prime minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, and the Palestinians.

“Barak is talking about his old disastrous idea which was introduced by Ariel Sharon before," Shaath said. "He wants a weak Palestinian entity on fragments of the Palestinian land."

He said Barak's proposal would mean Palestinians hand control to Israel over Jerusalem, Bethlehem and its outskirts as well as the River Jordan and the Jordan Valley.

It would also leave most settlements in place and give Israel control of water, he said.

"Fatah and the Palestinian leadership reject Israeli Defense Minister Ehud Barak’s proposal for a unilateral withdrawal from the West Bank" Really---- so you reject the idea? Somehow I get the feeling that if they want to leave, they will, regardless of whether you reject the idea or not. After all, isn't that the definition of making a unilateral decision? You don't get voice, choice, vote, approval or say so in the matter.

Barak rejects palestinian leadership's plan.

5 ) @ Around-4 / Both Should Proceed

You are right, that both can "reject", but they can also both proceed:
1- the PALESTINIAN leadership can reject the Barak plan,
for re-partitioning some of the Area C as "Palestinian", just like
2- the Israeli leadership can reject Abbas' new UN Bid,
seeking unilateral statehood on 1967 borders, but
3- both REJECTIONs MEANS NOTHING, since
the other can, should, and will, proceed anyway !!!!
