GAZA CITY (Ma’an) The Erez crossing crossing into the Gaza Strip was closed Thursday as Palestinian transport workers went on strike in protest of mistreatment by Gaza security forces.

Merchants and patients were stranded at the crossing from early in the morning, a Ma'an reporter said.

The striking workers, members of the Palestinian transport sector, said they were protesting the Gaza security forces' apparent decision to begin searching workers in the area.

Security forces in the Gaza Strip have faced criticism since last week after forcefully dispersing a women's union's march and harassing journalists during a rare anti-Hamas protest.

Interior Minister Fathi Hammad has formed an inquiry into the allegations.

Also on Wednesday Human Rights Watch released a report accusing Hamas security forces and the justice system in Gaza of severe lapses including torture and unfair trials.

If palestinians do not like rules at Erez crossing they always can use Rafa crossing to travel to and from Gaza and travel between Gaza and West Bank through Egypt and Jordan. It will keep palestinians away from Israel which they hate very much. I believe Israelis would not object also if palestinians stay away from their country.

There is no occupation in Gaza. There are no jobs in Gaza also. Would you think it is also something wrong with crossing schedule there? Please, think about it. Maybe palestinians not managing their affairs very good? Maybe their economical policy is not optimal? Or little corruption is involved? Please, think about it.

The Gazans are getting more and more fed up with the burden of fascist Hamas rule. If Iran does indeed cut off support for Hamas, the time will soon be ripe for another Palestinian civil war to throw out Hamas, that has brought nothing but grief and poverty to Gaza while making Hamas strongmen richer and fatter.

#1 - and, similarly, Palestinians would not object if Israelis would stay away from their country #3 - what grief and poverty do you think Israel has done to Gaza with it's attempt to strangle the whole place. Or is that OK, because Israel is doing it?
