GAZA CITY (Ma’an) -- The Emir of Qatar is set to visit the Gaza Strip in the coming few days, the first visit by an Arab leader since Hamas took power in the coastal enclave, a Gaza TV channel said on Sunday.

Emir Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani and his wife Sheikha Mozah are slated to come to Gaza following the arrival of Qatari delegates on Sunday, al-Kitab satellite channel said.

Gaza's ministry of interior said in a statement it had deployed security officials throughout the Gaza Strip to prepare for the Qatari delegation, headed by Amb. Muhammad al-Amadi.

The group, which is preparing for the emir's visit, arrived in Gaza through Egypt's Rafah crossing on Sunday, a Ma'an correspondent said.

Qatar has pledged half a billion dollars in assistance to the Gaza Strip over the coming three years to rebuild infrastructure destroyed in Israeli attacks.

Finally! How about Saudi Arabia also adding to Qatar initiative its OFFICIAL public support, a billion dollars, and an OFFICIAL VISIT to Gaza. This is will send a clear message to US and its evil Israel that they support GAZA and that they do recognize the legitimity of Gaza democratically elected government and its struggle for independence of Palestine.

The part of the story they don't tell you is that the Qataris are buying up beachfront property. Building the roads to get there. Then they are going to build residential buildings and commercial shopping area in a gated community which none the Gazans will be permitted to or have the money to buy or live there. It will be reserved for wealthy foreign Arabs. They also plan to build some low income housing for the Gazans being displaced from the beachfront.

#1 There's just one problem with that. We're not interested in two Palestinian states (one in Gaza and one in the West Bank). I agree that international solidarity on the governmental level needs to happen, but the message should also be that the Palestinians should end their division and the both the West Bank and Gaza governments should expedite the process of forming one united government for both areas, something both sides don't seem to serious about doing.

Well! It'd seem the Qatari petro-sheiks are the "perfect" proxies 4 Israel(already has an oil/gas deal with Qatar)with a big US military base/supply depot,private-contractor(mercenary)nest in Doha,as well as Doha having a plethora of ideological extremists ready 2 B shipped in,to Syria?Hey!Maybe Israel's going to get Qatar's work force to extract Gazan gas for Zionism 2? Leaving Gazan's indentured 2 al-Thani beach Sheiks & their "Manila-like"Gaza night-clubs? Palestinian State? Or Doha annex?
