GAZA CITY (Ma’an) -- Palestinian farmers said Israeli forces opened fire Tuesday while they harvested olives near the border in Beit Hanoun in the northern Gaza Strip, while Israel said it had no record of the incident.
Farmers were harvesting the olives with volunteers from a local initiative as well as international activists. This campaign was organized to protect farmers by the Arab Center for Agricultural Development and in partnership with Norwegian Aid. The Palestinian NGO Network sponsored the event.
The network said that the attack on Palestinian farmers came within a series of attacks and crimes committed by settlers and Israeli forces in the West Bank and the Gaza strip.
It called for allowing farmers to operate without restrictions.
An Israeli military spokeswoman said the army had no record of an attack in that area.
