JENIN (Ma'an) -- Israeli forces destroyed five water wells in a Jenin village on Wednesday, claiming the structures were unlicensed, a local official said.

Muhammad Fahmi Maree, head of a local agricultural association, told Ma'an that an Israeli bulldozer, accompanied by military vehicles, destroyed the wells in Kafr Dan village.

Israeli authorities did not give the villagers any prior notification about the demolition, Maree said, adding that Israeli forces also destroyed a water pump.

Jenin governor, Talal Dweikat, told a Ma'an reporter that by destroying water wells Israeli authorities are targeting the Palestinian economy.

He called on human rights groups to help end Israeli aggression against Palestinian farmers.

The more one reads about this barbaric and inhumane occupation, the more one is disgusted by its deliberate ethnic cleansing and destruction of culture and economy.

Neither the Oslo Accords, which resulted in Nobel Peace Prizes, Nor the rule of law is "barbaric and inhumane", where as agreed in the Oslo Accords: - Israel destroys nothing in Jenin, or any other Area A city, where the PA was awarded control, and - Palestinians (NOR Jews) builds anything in Area C, without an Israeli permits, where Israel was awarded control, also as agreed in Oslo, and - these "5 water wells destroyed" were in Area C, and NOT in Jenin !!!

Israel is badly very advised. If I was advising them I would tell them that going on the way they do is just reinforcing in people's minds what a pariah state they are. More and more people who may have been pro-Israel a few years ago have come to realise what "rogue state" really means. When the occupation first started Israel trumpeted that the world would see the greatest benign occupation that there ever was. what a sick joke that has become

sorry about typo in #4. #2 - what possible harm can accrue from a water well? Even if it is built without permission. I bet wells built by settlers would not be demolished - if they are built without a permit, then Israel would grant a permit retrospectively. The problem is that Israel readily permits building by settlers, but not the Palestinians.
