JERUSALEM (Ma'an) -- Jewish settlers on Monday attacked a Palestinian family in East Jerusalem, forcing them from their homes, the family said.

Mahmoud Abu al-Hawa told Ma'an the settlers smashed the windows of his home in al-Tur and ransacked his elderly mother's room, causing her to pass out, he said.

An Israeli court has ruled that a relative of al-Hawa sold the home to the Elad settler association, he said.

The 7-member family left their home on Monday fearing further settler attacks, al-Hawa said.

The home is in a building overlooking the Al-Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem's Old City. Israeli settlers now control two apartments in the building.

The Elad association is a private Israeli organization which promotes settlement building in East Jerusalem. The US state department in July criticized the group for disregarding the diverse religious history of sites it controls in East Jerusalem.

Israel captured East Jerusalem in 1967 and later annexed it in a move never recognized by the international community. Palestinians seek East Jerusalem as the capital of their hoped-for state.

#1 you won't find it. This is part of their policy of removing the arab element and restoring the abomination that is "eretz israel." Elad is nothing more than a terrorist group. They should be in the same category as Al Qaida.

More clarification is needed here: How in the hell can Mahmoud Abu al-Hawa's relative sell HIS home ??? ... Regardless of who in his family was/is living there, how did the court uphold a valid sale of HIS home (by a relative) to the Elad settler association ??? ... Did he even know about his relative selling HIS home ??? ... Was his relative on record as co-/equal owner with sole right to sell the home ??? ... More information is definitely needed here.

"An Israeli court has ruled that a relative of al-Hawa sold the home to the Elad settler association..." That's probably true and one response is to say if the "relative" owns it, then he can sell it and to whomever he likes...BUT, selling stuff (esp. land) has to be regulated (to some extent) by the state, mindful of the effect it has on the national good. And "the state" in A-Tur, up the "mount", is NOT Israel. Israel has no jurisdiction there and clearly no interest in the well-being

(contd.) or rights of the residents (who BTW aren't Israeli citizens). A-Tur is occupied Palestine. Occupied East Jerusalem. The Municipality of Greater Jerusalem is universally regarded as illegal. Fraud on a grand scale. Pure theft. So the solution IMHO is to strengthen the legal case that A-Tur is part of the State of Palestine OCCUPIED by the State of Israel and that Israeli actions there break every law (pertaining to occupation) in the book...which is what Pres. Abbas is doing at the UN.

#2 "Elad is nothing more than a terrorist group. They should be in the same category as Al Qaida." Along with Likud, based on all the flagrantly illegal stuff in their "Charter" (and ultimately more violent and destructive than both).

Yeah, Yehuda, it's not very different from religious nutcases as you claiming that the land between the Jordan River and the Mediterranean Sea belongs to the Jews because of what's written in some old book.....
