RAMALLAH (Ma’an) -- Four Palestinians jailed in Israel are now on hunger strike, the Palestinian prisoners society said Wednesday.

The latest hunger-striker is Odai Kilani, from Tubas, who started refusing food on Oct. 30 to protest his administrative detention.

Palestinian citizen of Israel, Muhammad Kananeh, started a hunger strike on Oct. 23 to protest his categorization as a criminal.

From Arraba village in the Galilee, Kananeh says he is a political prisoner as he was held over a protest in the Golan against Israel's occupation and displacement of the territory, as well as Gaza and the West Bank in 1967.

Samer Issawi, from Jerusalem, has been on hunger strike since Aug. 1 to protest his re-arrest after he was released in a prisoners exchange. Israeli authorities say he violated the terms of the swap deal.

Ayman Sharawneh, from Hebron, launched his hunger strike on July 1. The prisoners society says his medical condition is critical, and he requires urgent treatment.
