EL-ARISH, Egypt (Ma'an) -- Egyptian authorities detained an Egyptian man late Friday on the Israeli border and said he was trying to enter Israel.

Mohammad Jumaah, 22, was searched and found to be carrying only his birth certificate and 14 Egyptian pounds, according to security officials.

Egyptian authorities have opened an investigation.
