HEBRON (Ma'an) -- Settlers in Hebron threw stones at a Palestinian man on Saturday, causing moderate head injuries, medics said.

Samir Jaber, 20, was taken to hospital for treatment after settlers from Kiryat Arba threw stones at him in an unprovoked attack.

Hebron was split into areas of Palestinian and Israeli control under a 1997 agreement.

The Israeli military-controlled H2 zone includes the ancient Old City, home of the revered Ibrahimi Mosque -- also split into a synagogue referred to as the Tomb of the Patriarchs.

Around 800 Jewish settlers live among 30,000 Palestinians in the parts of the ancient city that are under Israeli control.

Settler attacks against Palestinians are routine in the occupied territories, with Israeli military authorities rarely intervening or bringing the perpetrators to justice.

Look at those brave settlers, with their dogs and armed escort. When do we hear of Palestinians attacking the settlers? And just how often do we hear of settlers attacking Palestinians. And getting away with it. The armed escort should be protecting the Palestinians, not the settlers - under International law. But no, Israel thumbs its nose at International Law. They make their own laws. But call on International law when it suits their purposes.

Charming photo. Settlers with dogs, a horse and armed bodyguard. If there is a parallel more fitting than that between violent settlers (like the ones in Hebron) and Hitler Youth...empowered by the State, dehumanised by extreme ideology, freed from moral constraint, encouraged to realise the worst in themselves, to find the inner bully, the sadist, and all tacitly condoned...if there is a parallel more fitting than that, I have not found it.
