CAIRO (Reuters) -- Israel's ambassador left Egypt after President Mohamed Mursi announced he was summoning him to discuss the Israeli attacks in Gaza and would recall Egypt's ambassador from Israel, an airport source said on Wednesday.

"The Israeli ambassador to Egypt left suddenly along with his embassy staff... after Egypt summoned its ambassador in Tel Aviv following the Israeli assault on Gaza enclave," the source said.

However an Israeli diplomat in Jerusalem said the ambassador had not been recalled.

Ambassador Yaakov Amitai had come to Israel before Israel launched the assault on Gaza, the diplomat told Reuters. However, the embassy in Cairo was functioning as normal, he added.

Morsi had no guts to expel the ambassador! He left the country without explanation ,so it shows that Morsi's value as a president is zero ,he is an unrespected nobody in this game!

Completely disagree, he did not expel the Israeli ambassador so, he wouldn't strain the communication channel with Israel which could be paramount for establishing a ceasefire with Gaza.

Morsi summoned the Israeli Embassador to explain the meaning of the agression and to hold his country accountable for it which is a sign of power. However, in this case the Israeli Embassador did not want to give that upper hand to Morsi and hence has left the country.

At what point does Egypt condemn the shelling of Israel? It did not do so over the last several months after hundreds of missiles were fired into Israel. Does it take one thousand missiles? At what point does Egypt react?

If Egypt wishes to be taken as a serious country at a world stage, then it needs to show it self to be a fair people. It needs to act as a moderate power in the middle east, and send messages of peace - that is when it will move to a higher ground of development. If you take any sides to this then you show yourself to be wasting a great opportunity.
