BETHLEHEM (Ma'an) -- A British diplomat in Jerusalem told Ma'an on Friday that the UK foreign minister has called Israeli, Egyptian and Jordanian counterparts in an effort to halt the crisis in Gaza.

While William Hague has made clear that Hamas is responsible for the current assault, the government makes a distinction between Hamas and the 1.5 million civilians in Gaza, Jerusalem consulate Charge d’Affairs Ben Saol said.

The UK foreign minister said Thursday "Hamas bears principal responsibility for the current crisis. I utterly condemn rocket attacks from Gaza into southern Israel by Hamas and other armed groups."

"I am gravely concerned by the situation in Gaza and southern Israel and deeply regret the loss of civilian life on both sides," Hague said in a statement.

While ministers have talked about the intolerable situation in south Israel, the British government also has empathy with the civilians in Gaza, Saol noted.

British premier David Cameron emphasized in a phone call with Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyhu yesterday the imperative on Israel to de-escalate the situation and avoid civilian casualties, Saol said.

The only way this is going to completely stop is when the last Hamas terrorist is slotted. Cease-fires only kick the can up the street. Hamas clearly didn't learn the lesson from Cast Lead, so the job needs to be done properly this time. Israel would be doing the Pals in Gaza a favor by ridding them of these idiots. They could then revitalize the area by making it a major hub for their gas and oil industry. The people need jobs, not guns and bloody Islamofascists !

If "slotted" means killed, then your right.
"The only way this is going to stop", is by Israel killing or forcing the Islamic militants into exile from Gaza, just like Israel did, in 1982, to the PLO militants from Lebanon, because Hamas, PRC, PFLP, Islamic Jihad, etc. all have NO intention of living in peace along side Israel, and unfortunately the PLO still probably does NOT either, though they pretend better, since signing the Oslo Accords, which ended their exile !!!

UN Security Council should send a peace mission with their blue helmets to Gaza to end the occupation.
