TEL AVIV (Reuters) -- Air sirens sounded in Tel Aviv for the fourth day in a row after Hamas' brigades said it fired two rockets at the commercial capital from Gaza.

An Israeli police spokesman said at least one rocket was intercepted by Israel's Iron Dome air shield. Police are searching for remains, but are not aware that any projectiles hit the city, Mickey Rosenfeld said.

Witnesses said they saw a rocket shot down in the Tel Aviv sky.

Police said falling debris from the interception struck a car, which a Reuters TV crew saw catch fire. Its driver escaped unharmed.

The Israeli military rushed an Iron Dome interceptor battery to the Tel Aviv area hours before it intercepted an attack on Saturday. Deployment of the system came several months earlier than planned.

Militant groups also fired rockets at Tel Aviv on Thursday and Friday. The location of the impacts was not disclosed.

Projectiles landed in southern Israel after 8 a.m. on Sunday, an army spokeswoman said, after an overnight lull.

One Israeli was moderately wounded by a rocket fired into the Negev region on Sunday morning, Israeli police spokesman Mickey Rosenfeld said.

Israeli news site Ynet said a building in Ashkelon was damaged and two people lightly injured by shrapnel.

They were the first rockets fired from Gaza into Israel since midnight on Saturday, according to the army.

Meanwhile, military jets fired on approximately 70 sites in the Gaza Strip overnight.
