EL-ARISH, Egypt (Ma’an) -- Sinai militants detonated an explosive device on the border with Israeli city Eilat on Monday, Egyptian security sources said.
The militant groups planted the explosives at a site where Israeli workers were installing a border fence, security officials told Ma'an.
A blast was heard at the international point 89 between Taba and Eilat, they added.
An Israeli army spokeswoman told Ma'an earlier the blasts were related to a security problem involving Ministry of Defense workers. A ministry spokesman could not be reached for comment.
Israeli police spokesman Mickey Rosenfeld said a work accident had taken place.
On Saturday, a blast was heard in the city but Israeli police said there was no sign of a rocket and they were searching for the source of the explosion.
