BERLIN (Reuters) -- Germany will not back a Palestinian bid for a diplomatic upgrade at the United Nations, the government spokesman said on Wednesday.

The United Nations is due to hold a vote on Thursday on an upgrade of Palestinian status at the 193-member body to an observer state from an observer entity.

"We are assessing the situation and want as much agreement as possible with our European partners... But it is certain that Germany will not vote for such a resolution," spokesman Steffen Seibert told a news conference.

Why not? It's not like it's going to matter. 150 out of 193 countries are prepared to do the right thing, something which the Germans obviously never did.

Hilde, my country (the Netherlands) also will not back the UN bid. They are having to much zionists in their government. There's also the feeling of guild (still) about WOII. It doesn't say anything about the people living in Germany and the Netherlands. Most are behind you, but also a lot of people only follow the zionist papers. (we don't have anything else) I am a Jew from Holland and I am 100% on your site. Shalom/Salaam
