BETHLEHEM (Ma'an) -- The Arab League Ministerial Committee will meet in Doha on Dec. 9 to reevaluate the peace process and review the Arab Peace Initiative, a league official said Thursday.

Qatari Foreign Minister Hamad bin Jassim bin Jaber Al Thani will chair the meeting, said Mohammad Sbaih, Arab League head of Palestinian affairs.

Sbaih told Ma'an the committee would reexamine the Arab Peace Initiative and the role of the international Quartet -- Russia, the UN, EU and US -- which he said had failed in its role as mediator to the peace process.

Sbaih said the Arab Peace Initiative should be replaced with a stronger alternative.

He added that ministers in Qatar would reaffirm the need for Arab states to follow through on financial pledges to the Palestinian Authority and commit to a financial safety net for the PA.

In June, the Arab League agreed to provide a safety net for the PA in case Israel withheld Palestinian tax revenue in response to a UN vote accepting Palestine as a non-member state.

Well I suppose its rather hard to succeed when the Pal side refuses to negotiate unless they are guaranteed to get everything they demand before they come to the table.

There was a real peace, in exchange for real statehood process, and now there is a nothing, in exchange for non-member UN statehood, where all that will follow is poverty from a certain decline, if not complete halt in both international donations and Israeli cooperations in trade !!
