GAZA CITY (Ma'an) -- Fatah will organize anniversary celebrations in the Gaza Strip to commemorate the 48th year since the party's founding, a senior Fatah official in Gaza said Sunday.

Yahya Rabah told Ma'an that the celebrations would take place amid a positive atmosphere of reconciliation and the UN vote to upgrade Palestine's status.

Last year, anniversary celebrations were banned by Hamas, who announced that all planned festivities would be canceled.

A special committee has started preparing for the celebrations, which will take place in Gaza City under the banner of "Statehood and Victory," Rabah said.

The anniversary of the secular, nationalist movement is usually celebrated on January 1.

Fatah, or 'conquest' in Arabic, was founded in 1965 by late President Yasser Arafat and has long been the dominant force in Palestinian politics and a cornerstone in the nationalist struggle.

"Fatah, or 'conquest' in Arabic, was founded in 1965 by late President Yasser Arafat and has long been the dominant force in Palestinian politics and a cornerstone in the nationalist struggle." That word "conquest" says it all. The so called "palestinians" are conquering occupation forces, not a nation of any sort.
