TULKAREM (Ma’an) -- Unidentified assailants detonated a small explosive device under the private vehicle of a hospital employee in the northern West Bank on Monday morning.

Khalid Amin Abu Khatir, a medical office manager at Thabit Thabit Hospital in Tulkarem, said he had been received threats via social media over his administrative decisions at the hospital.

Palestinian security officials said a small explosive device was detonated under a rear wheel, causing some damage.

The hospital's general manager, Khalid Salih, also had his car tampered with in recent weeks, Abu Khatir said.

Police have opened an investigation into the incident.
