RAMALLAH (Ma'an) -- Israeli forces raided three civil society organizations in Ramallah early Tuesday, a Ma'an correspondent said.

Soldiers raided the offices of the Agricultural Work Committees, prisoners group Addameer, and the Union of Palestinian Women's Committees, located in Qaddura refugee camp.

Four laptops, one hard disk and a video camera were taken from Addameer's office, a statement from the group said. It is the first time the prisoners group has been raided since 2002, during the height of the second Palestinian intifada.

Israeli forces confiscated files and computer hardware from the women's committee before ransacking the office, witnesses said.

During the raid, clashes broke out with local youths and Israeli soldiers, who responded by firing tear gas.

Military forces also raided the offices of the Palestinian NGO Network, Ma'an's reporter said.

"This comes in the context of the UN's decision," Allam Jarrar of the Palestinian NGO Network told reporters on Tuesday morning.

"This a message by the Israelis to the Palestinians, saying that when they take decisions or form patriotic organizations to seek their freedom, the occupation will use aggression to try and stop us," he said.

Palestinian National Initiative chief Mustafa Barghouti said the Israeli raids were "piracy," adding that targeting civil society organizations that serve the Palestinian public is unacceptable.

An Israeli army spokesman said that "overnight IDF soldiers searched several offices in Ramallah which are affiliated with the Popular Front terrorist organization."

In February, Israeli forces raided two Palestinian television networks in Ramallah and briefly detained four employees, journalists said.

I thought Ramallah was under full Palestinian control. Apparently I was mistaken. This must be what Netanyahu means for his idea of Palestinian statehood, raids and destruction whenever the whim hits some IDF commander who is bored. A lawsuit for compensatory and exemplary (10 times compensatory) and punitive damages (10 times compensatory plus exemplary) would be warranted in the USA.

7 ) Unilateral Actions / Suggested Response
11/12/2012 18:37
1- Israel gives Palestine recognized borders (consolidated Areas A/B).
2- Israel Close these Border to all non-Israeli citizens, until Palestine recognizes Israel.
3- Israel ends all trade, import, export, across the border, except humanitarian needs.
4- Israel Informs Palestine that
-a- murder or genocide of Israeli citizens will not be tolerated, and
-b- Palestinians in Israel can be treated like Israelis in Palestine. And
5- Wait for Palestine’s response.

#7 Apartheid Israeli style with Palestinian bantustans in Area A and B (isolated islands without connection to the outside world) will not be tolerated. Your dumb unilateralism will have unintended consequences (see Gaza). The status of Palestinians in Israel is quite unlike those of Israeli colonists in Palestine. Palestinans in Israel are there by right. Israeli colonists are violating international law. We should use all the force of international law to sanction the rogue state Israel.

This is a crime, a war crime " Israeli forces raid NGO offices in Ramallah ". The Israeli who gave this order and the israeli soldiers who participated are war criminals. You don't fool around with this type of Israeli behaviour. You immediately ask the ICC to act on this and issue arrest warrants on the Israeli participants.

#7 - Nothing "unilateral" about stealing land in the West Bank and East Jerusalem, forcefully removing the original inhabitants, and annexing it as part of the Israeli state, huh? You are a hypocrite through and through.
