RAMALLAH (Ma’an) -- Lawmaker Mustafa Barghouti said Tuesday that Israel's settlement expansion plans are akin to declaring war on Palestinians.

Israel on Monday approved plans to build 1,500 more Jewish settler homes in East Jerusalem on Monday, an official said, days after provoking international protests against a project for another 3,000 such homes on land in the city.

Barghouti, head of the Palestinian National Initiative party, said Palestinians should form a united national leadership in order to fight this war. The leaders should build a national strategy based on popular resistance, he said.

The lawmaker said Israel's provocative policies will ultimately lead Palestinians to the International Criminal Court in order to stop these settlements plans.

Even IF, "Israel's settlement expansion plans is actually declaring war on Palestinians", Israel's war is being fought, without any bloodshed or war crimes (unlike the Palestinian's war), over disputed LANDS only THAT WERE:
- ONCE part of biblical JEWISH states (Israel or Judea),
- NEVER part of a PALESTINIAN (Palestine) state, and
the ONLY WAY for a "united Palestinian leadership to fight this war" is through NEGOTIATIONS & compromise, since an "ICC order can NOT stop settlements."

Will you lot stop threatening to go to the ICC, and just do it. It's long past time we got all these claims about ownership of land, and who is occupying whom aired in a legal setting, were propaganda, revisionist history, and all the other BS is proven for what it is.

I totally agree with you, that Pals should "just do it" already, and
1- take their state's claims to the ICC, and bring their own Proof-of-Ownership
(rather than claiming what the State of Jordan lost in 1967), and
2- be prepared for the ICC to reject such unsubstantiated claims, and In fact,
3- The above is probably the reason that Pals haven't "just done it" already !!!

1) really doesnt like facts does he.
Palestine has been an political entity continuously since Romans ruled the area. Even before Christ the Phillistines had a country which lasted for hundreds of years. #1's facts can be put beside "Palestinians are a made up people". I love hearing that one. All people are a made up people. Every people are a made by people. israelis are a made up group. USA is a made up group. Spanish are a made up group.

Poor choice of words by Barghouti and another reason substantive negotiations on a peace settlement are long overdue. If it is akin, would he - and those he is supposed to represent - prefer a real declaration of war? Dumb.
