RAMALLAH (Ma’an) – Israeli forces on Saturday evening stopped for several hours the cars of the governor of Ramallah and her escorts near the entrance to the village of Sinjil north of Ramallah.
A spokesman from Layla Ghannam's office said the governor was being escorted by an official delegation in Sinjil to offer condolences to a bereaved family when three army patrols stopped the cars.
“When the soldiers learned that it was an official PA delegation, they savagely collected everybody’s identity cards,” Samir Tayyim told Ma’an.
Responding to the incident, Ghannam said it was a political message from the Israeli occupation’s government to the leadership of the Palestinian Authority.
Israeli leaders, she added, have already threatened PA leaders and hope to topple the PA.
