BETHLEHEM (Ma’an) -- The Secretary General of the Arab League will arrive in the West Bank on Saturday to discuss pledged financial aid to the Palestinian Authority.

Nabil Al-Arabi will travel to Ramallah with Egyptian foreign minister Mohammad Kamel Amr by Jordanian helicopter, a Ma'an correspondent said.

The Arab League chief will meet with President Mahmoud Abbas during the day. On the agenda is an update of the so-called Arab safety net, a monthly payment pledged by the League to support the struggling Palestinian finances, which has yet to arrive.

The leaders will also talk about potential routes to reviving peace talks with Israel.

Al-Arabi's visit is widely seen as a show of support to Abbas' government. He was meant to visit with a delegation of Arab foreign ministers, but the broader delegation was postponed to a later date, PA foreign minister Riyad al-Malki said Thursday.
