GAZA CITY (Ma’an) -- Israeli forces detained a Palestinian at a border crossing from the Gaza Strip who was seeking medical treatment in Jerusalem, a human rights group said.

Rafiq Ayesh Abu Harbeed, 38, went to the Erez crossing for an interview with Israeli intelligence on Tuesday morning, in order to seek treatment outside Gaza for a herniated disk, the al-Mezan Center for Human Rights said.

Late Tuesday afternoon, Harbeed's family in Beit Hanoun were informed that he had been detained by Israeli authorities. Israeli officials could not be reached for comment on Harbeed's detention.

Harbeed was wounded by a live bullet to the spine during the first intifada, causing back and leg problems, and he was applying for permission to get treatment at the Maqasid Hospital in East Jerusalem.

Rights groups have condemned Israel's detention of patients seeking treatment outside of Gaza, stressing the right to medical treatment.

Perhaps Hamas ought to invest millions into hospital programs instead of buying weapons?!

You really think they can afford to build and invest into medical centers when there struggling to just get a normal meal all thanks to the Zionist, they all should go back were they came from.

# 2 - don't you read the papers? As soon as Gaza gets anything of substance built, Israel bombs the hell out of it. How much does Israel expend on weapons? How much does your country give them to buy those weapons? Don't talk hypocritical nonsense.

Why did he not take a bus to el-Arish's famed medical facilities and hospitals instead, el-Arish is closer to Gaza and is in Egypt

Some chronically ill Israelis also need medical attention inside Israel's hospitals.

Why should Israel provide medical aid to those who want to kill them?

Malone; "Why should Israel provide medical aid to those who want to kill them"?
Yeah, that's right. Just put the sick and wounded down like an animal. Good thinking, Malone! 'Most Moral Army' would be proud o' yer!

"Why did he not take a bus"
Yeah, why not! Probably because it was all a conspiracy and he didnt really have a herniated disc at all. Or maybe he herniated it himself 'cos he was bored. You know what these Palestinians are like, anything for a bit of attention. Maybe you should take a hike on a bike...

#8 "gabi" was not posted by me - this person has stolen my name several times, probably because there are not enough supporters for her/his point of view, so has to fabricate some!!! It's called stealing.
