Israel 'yet to decide' over tax revenue transfer to PA

BETHLEHEM (Ma’an) -- The Israeli government has not yet decided whether to transfer tax revenues to the Palestinian Authority this month, the spokesman of the Israeli Prime Minister said Thursday.

Ofir Gendelman told Ma'an the government will announce its position in the coming days.

In December, the Israeli government seized Palestinian tax revenues it collects on behalf of the PA under international agreements. Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman warned at the time that the monthly payments would not resume until at least April.

Gendelman said the move was a response to Palestine's admission to the UN on Nov. 29, which he called a "flagrant violation, and an obstacle for peace process."

He said the funds are being used to pay off Palestinian electricity and water debts, noting that the current balance owed by the electricity companies is 200 million shekels ($50 million).

The Palestinian Authority's financial crisis has led to a resumption of public sector strikes as the government struggles to pay its employees' salaries.

Israel, please do not give them a penny - they would use those money to buy missiles to kill your people. Just stop collecting taxes on palestinian's behalf. Let palestinians collect their taxes. Do not give them nothing.

The PA has been replaced by the non-member observer state of Palestine,
and a new state has no relations with any state, until it establishes them,
and Palestine still refuses to even talk to Israel, it has no relations with Israel,
and Israel should "not give them a penny"

The tax money Israel collects is Palestinian taxes. Israel does not give anything for free. This is part of the Oslo agreement. In return , the PA is supposed to do some "security coordination" with Israel. this is a euphemism to stop anyone from conducting any military actioj against Israel. If Israel does not transfer the money like it should , there should be no security coordination ( a tit for tat)...

I agree that the two sides should STOP PRETENDING, and:
- either coodinate on EVERYTHING, including peace talks,
- OR coodinate on NOTHING, including taxes and security !!

I should try this. I wonder how my creditors would feel about me deciding to 'think about' forwarding their money to them.

To @EE #3 'The PA has been replaced by the non-member observer state of Palestine, and a new state has no relations with any state, until it establishes them, and Palestine still refuses to even talk to Israel, it has no relations with Israel, and Israel should "not give them a penny"' Do you actually think that's a valid argument?
