BETHLEHEM (Ma'an) -- Egyptian president Muhammad Mursi on Saturday invited President Abbas to attend a series of Islamic Summit meetings due to be held in Cairo, official news agency Wafa reported.
The Islamic Summit is the largest meeting organized by The Organization of Islamic Cooperation, a global body which safeguards the interests of the Islamic world.
The summit meetings are due to take place in Cairo on February 6-7.
Abbas accepted the invitation, delivered during a meeting with Egyptian ambassador to Palestine Yasser Othman, and said he is looking forward to meeting President Mursi to discuss bilateral issues.
Othman updated Abbas on Egyptian efforts to end the suffering of Palestinian prisoners and congratulated the president on Fatah's 48th anniversary.
